• How bad is redirecting a site for SEO

Hi, I have recently joined this forum as was impressed by many of the responses I've read to other queries and threads & was wondering if you could help. We recently launched our new product and site however as we're using a modx CMS and previously had a holding site under this domain it appears to be impossible to use the domain name without having it as a redirect; from the original domain to a domain.name/ie. However I know for a fact that for SEO redirects should be avoided at all costs.. how bad do you think this is? Has anyone had the same problem & still managed to achieve top seo rankings? Thanks, loconor CustomerMinds.com (http://www.customerminds.com)

I still have one finger that is numb today. If any one could point me in the right direction this would be great. Thanks

• How to manage multiple SEO related accounts

I currently have some SEO related accounts (AdSense, Analytics, etc.) for some of my personal sites, but I will now need to access the existing accounts (AdWords, Analytics, PayPal, etc.) for a friends site. What is the best way for me to do this, and are there an issues or complications I need to watch out for? For example, is it ok for me to just login and logout of the accounts as needed, or should I use separate browser profiles? Robert

• Googlebot blocked from robots.txt + sitemap.xml

I'm running Wordpress MU for the ammado blog. All is going well but I'm having issues with some search visibility issues. I have a robots.txt file in the blog root of the MU site. (using this plugin for MU robot.txt files) (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/kb-robotstxt/) http://en.blog.ammado.com/robots.txt I also have a sitemap.xml file in the same location http://en.blog.ammado.com/sitemap.xml I have added en.blog.ammado as a Google Sitemap account and I tried to add the sitemap.xml file to my account. Google is throwing up a "Googlebot is blocked from http://en.blog.ammado.com/" error message. I'm not sure where GB is being blocked though. Any ideas on this one? I have also added a robots.txt file to blog.ammado.com just in case - http://blog.ammado.com/robots.txt

• SEOSEM CV hints tips

Today I've seen an interesting job in Germany (plus my own one isn't that stable right now) and I'm going to apply for it. Can anyone out there give me an idea on how to do such a CV ? Should I mention clients/campaigns/results achieved. Alongside skillset tools used etc ? ? I'm thinking a SEO/SEM CVs should be a little different from your run-of-the-mill ones. Any tips / hints etc ? Or if anyone would be nice enough to let me call them, PM me your number. Thanks, paul

• getting a dropped domain back in the index

I registered a dropped domain in the middle of January, and have some links to it, but it is still not showing up in the SERPS. I've submitted a sitemap which has been downloaded by google (webmaster console info), and I used the submit tool to get it listed. But still after two months nothing is showing up. Any ideas on how long it could take ?

• Tried searchme yet

Been trying the searchme beta after getting into the program. Very slick, but the results are a bit odd - quite different from what google returns. Interestingly it has already spidered small sites I've designed - I found everything I looked for. Anybody else tried it?

• SEO Tricks & Software

Hi Guys, New to this and the whole world of websites but i thought i might pick your brains for some info. Recently had a oscommerce website completed and at the moment my programers are working on the seo work. I have been told that it will take approx 3 months for all my products to link themselves and appear in the natural listings in google, does this sound right? Am not entirely happy with this as you can expect so i am looking for ways to get up the google ladder and appear in the natural listings without having to wait such a long time. Does anyone know of any software or tricks that will allow my website to appear more frequently in the search engines? I have over 291 products and woudl like for when somebody types a product type like for example toaster, my website to appear. Are there tricks to achieve this without having to pay the specified google advertising? If anyone has any links to blogging as well i'd appreciate them. Thanks for your time.

• New Domain name with 301 redirect

Hi there, Any advice on this would be appreciated :) If I changed the domain name of a website to include the relative keyword from "www.irelandservices.ie" to "www.irelandonlinemarketing.ie", is this a good idea? It's current ranking is average but not great and it has approx 50 good inbound links to the old name. I have to make a lot of seo changes to the site in general so this would just be one of the changes. Is it worth doing? Thanks!

• Domain Age Filtering - Google.ie

Does anybody have a rough estimation on how long the domain age filtering affects new sites in google.ie? I have a new site and we've actively been building links for our keywords. This keyword is highly competitive but I've seen massive jumps for us in the serps both good and bad. We jumped from page 21 to page 10, then back to page 21, then to page 19 and now we jumped to page 25. When I check the allinanchor, we're in the top 20 competitors for this term. The only thing I can put it down to is the domain age filter. The site has only been around for 2 months. We havent used any blackhat techniques other than agressive link building but not enough to be penalised by google for link spamming. Also does the authority of the site effect the length of time the domain age filter is applied?
