... Site Reviews Announcements• www.filmandgamecomposers.comHi guys, I havent made a website before, but used phpbb3 to make this forum. I'm fairly happy with it so far, and have about 74 members since about 1 or 2 weeks ago when I made it. I know the site name is a bit long, and was thinking on shortening it (FAG.com doesnt really work though) www.filmandgamecomposers.com One problem...it uses frames. I don't want to do this, it was just a temporary fix so I could use sitemeter, by putting a 1% html frame at the bottom and putting the sitemeter code into it. I got rid of the frame as its causing problems like bookmarking and SEO etc. However, I haven't completely got rid of it. Can someone help me? Basically I have the phpbb forum located in Public_html -> forum Therefore, technically, if you go to • Index page (http://www.filmandgamecomposers.com/forum), it should bring you there right? So when I use my directadmin to redirect www.filmandgamecomposers.com to filmandgamecomposers.com/forum, it doesnt work...any ideas? Source: IrishWebMasterForums |

• Reverb Studios BlogMy own blog at Reverb Studios Blog - Multimedia & Web Design Leitrim Ireland (http://www.reverbstudios.ie/blog) has been up a few months and since then, like my main site its been all black with light gray text. I'm constantly told that all sites should be bright with black text on white backgrounds just like all the books we used to read! Until now I've ignored this advice and gone my own way like I always do! I Don't like to follow trends and I used to tell people that we're all used to school blackboards which were white on black so it shouldn't be too large a leap of faith to book lovers and web design conservatives. I've changed my mind recently though and reverted to a dark gray (not black!) text on a white background mostly because I didn't want to take away from the content in any way. Its now all very minimalist, white and clean with very little colour and is easy to read. I'd like to know people opinions of my blog in general and the whole issue of dark V light colours in websites. Source: IrishWebMasterForums |

• www.irelandseyephotography.iehi guys Irelands eye Photography (http://www.irelandseyephotography.ie) we're just about to launch this site in conjunction with my off shore development team - i'd like to take the credit but unfortunately i'm not a coder or designer, (i just take on the work and farm it out at the right price) - and just wondered what the experts think. please also feel free to compare with other photography sites you may know. The site isnt intended to sell photographs yet - this will come later with a full e-commerce structure where buyers will be able to choose frames, borders etc - at present it is an on-line brochure which will contain probably about 20,000 pictures and by next year will include 10 of Ireland's best photographers. It's commercial prospect at the moment is for galleries in teh states to book an event when Irelands Eye will take the gallery over to sell photos. Thanks in advance Source: IrishWebMasterForums |

• Logo ReviewI have a client, whoose a PR company. The owner is quite happy with his original logo but I'm trying to persuade him if he wants to develop his brand and create a web based brand he'll need to change it. So can I have honest opinions on his original logo versus the new logo. He says he had a lot of testing done with it and everybody loved it. The companies name is Republic PR. The first file is the original logo, the second is one I'm offering him as part of the web design. Source: IrishWebMasterForums |

• Ok So I Went Crazy - Review My Design SiteHi Guys, I have finally designed a site I am fairly happy with. Keep in mind I am a student, I am still learning, but I do try, the site is of much higher standard (code wise) than what I have cherned out before and I just kinda want to get some rung on the ladder. I don't really want big corporate clients, I just want the website to be different and creative as well as accessible. In other words please don't be too brutal. As Forbairt will see I have decided to leave the CMS backing aside and go back to getting basics right. The site is Things2do Ireland - Innovative Solutions For Innovative People - New Age Digital Media Firm (http://www.things2do.ie) which has gone through a few lifes but now has a name with my few clients and I'm happy to keep the oddly named domain. Basically I want the site to be: 1. Different, unique, a bit odd, visually captivating. 2. Valid to W3C standards, most of the site seems to be. 3. Appeal to a younger audience, aim at doing artists, bands, etc websites. (That is what interests me more). 4. Preforms well in search engines. A lot of work has to be done, the old website is still appearing, so I'll be taking that down soon. 5. Not be too professional / off putting to target market above (I like dealing with people like myself a lot and hope to attract them to it). 6. Obviously be a site which creates work for myself in some minor part-time form, I'm a bit wedged for time as it is, but always worth being too busy. Things I know aren't the best: 1. The homepage is dodgy, very OTT and in general will be smoothed out with time, I might even do things with it over the next day or two. 2. Is pink a good colour to use given the photo contrast, any suggestions. 3. DW templating, does it work well for SEO? Any creative critism is welcomed, as I said before I want it to be very odd and different, I'm a one man enterprise outside of my contracted work and I'd like to reflect my madness in the site :) ;) :) Thanks, Baz Source: IrishWebMasterForums |

• Fancy a chat - cssDiscussion.comI recently took control of the domain and forum CSS Discussion (http://www.CSSDiscussion.com). I did this for a number of reasons, certainly one being to try and improve my sometimes sketchy knowledge of CSS. Also, after building websites for may other people over the years I wanted a website of my own to nurture and develop. I have made a few changes to the forum since taking control but am hesitant to make too many changes too quickly. As this is my first forum webmaster role I would like any feedback the good people at the Irish Webmaster Forum may have. Source: IrishWebMasterForums |

• BestGarages.ieHi all, new to forum but seems to be a mine of information and exactly what I've been looking for! Firstly, new site I set up based on experiences (good and bad) in getting my car serviced. Would appreciate your thoughts! Best Garages | Garage reviews ireland | Irish garage rankings (http://www.bestgarages.ie) Now, I've been through a few iterations of design and functionality, initially it was more a 'ratemygarage' site but for a couple of reasons (legal issues with libel etc., and the fact that many would simply use it to flame garages) I have now focused on trying to promote the good, i.e. recommend where you would get your car serviced/valets/sold etc. Anyway, it seems to be getting fairly good feedback now but the exposure is still very small, despite me trying to get it onto newspapers/pr etc.. this seems to be my biggest challenge. I have some interesting ideas for the future if it takes off to set up a bestgarages charter for garages to sign up to, as well as a yearly rating awards etc.. but baby steps first! All comments are welcome.. thanks Cyril Source: IrishWebMasterForums |
