Which tools / scripts do people recommend for working with merchant feeds? I've been using PriceTapestry, but the performance is terrible - it takes forever to import updates

• Introducing Webgains.ie

Hi everyone, My name is Kier and I'm an Account Manager at Webgains. We're an affiliate network, initially founded in London but we've now expanded across Europe (France, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden so far) and we've recently put live our Irish platform: Webgains.ie (http://www.webgains.ie/). Following a chat with Michele I've come here to say hi, explain what we're all about and start building up relationships with you guys. Currently there are two programs live for you to promote specifically on the Irish platform: Envirofone (http://www.webgains.ie/signup.html?programid=1206) and Electric Shopping (http://www.electricshopping.ie/) and we have plenty more that we're currently integrating so I'll be letting you know as and when new programs go live. You can of course also promote any of the other merchants that we have on the various regional networks should you have relevant traffic available. To tell you a little bit about what we're all about_: *Account Management - *Each account manager specialises in several sectors and deals with all programs within those sectors. This means if you're big in lead gen for example, you can quickly get recommendations on the best programs we have currently going and your AM will have a good understanding of the market in question. We also do not split our account management staff into separate teams for merchants and affiliates, we all deal with both sides of the relationship to ensure a thorough understanding of the issues involved. *Technology* - Our tracking is extremely reliable and can track orders even where cookies have been deleted or blocked. Affiliates have reported this can mean up to 10% more orders are tracked when compared with other networks. We always strive to ensure you have the best quality product feeds available and map all merchant categories to our own category tree for consistency. We've also recently introduced tracking functionality specifically to deal with voucher code promotions which offers a lot of flexibility in running exclusive offers for individual affiliates and can even be used for offline promotion. All merchant news, promotions etc. are published on our blog where you can get RSS feeds to stay up to date with everything that's going on. Naturally there's more I could say but I'll keep it brief ;) I'm very interested to get to know you all and build up productive relationships so please don't hesitate to get in touch and let me know what I can do for you.

• New Irish Dating Affiliate Enabled Site

Hi folks, Many thanks to BK for clearing me in advance to post on this. Some of you wil already know me, but by way of introduction I'm more of a "hobbiest" webmaster. Through marketing my Irish boating business, I picked up an interest in E Marketing leading me to set up an Irish online boat club which now has 1,500 members and 150,000 page views per month. Along the way I dabbled with building other community type websites and learning about other related subjects such as SEO,affiliate marketing etc. It's been fun and interesting. I've just set up an Irish dating site www.thirtyflirty.com aimed at Irish Thirty Somethings. I've added an automated Affiliate function to the site as a marketing tool. This is where I'd appreciate your collective advice! At the moment we have 300 actual members on the site and the dynamics are building slowly. I reckon that I really need about 1,000 members (critical mass) before it reaches an activity level that will justify charging for Premium membership. To start with, I am allowing the first 1,000 members to join as Free Premium members. After that, I think that affilliate marketing is the way to go. Would potential affiliates such as yourselves sign up for a short initial "no return" period ( advertising a free to join site - No comission) until we reached the critical mass when we could reward these founder affiliates with a more generous commission say (30%)? Or, would I be better of to market the site to critical mass level by using normal newpaper / magazine advertising ? I don't think that Google adwords are the way to go as the level of competition is so high and we'd end up losing a shed load of money in the great swamp. Kind regards, Stuart
