New Nissan Qashqai Is Here. At last a car like no other.
Unique is often a misused word, but not when mentioned in connection with the new Nissan Qashqai (pronounced Cash-kye).
A passenger car with SUV attributes, the new Nissan Qashqai will be built at Nissan’s highly productive Sunderland plant in the UK and shows clear styling influences from the acclaimed luxury Murano SUV launched in March 2005.
At a glance the Qashqai really is a catalyst for change and will bring an alternative to the norm for consumers. Its distinctive styling is a marriage of the sleek shape of a passenger hatchback with the strength of a 4×4 to create something fresh and different in the new car market.
The Qashqai’s dynamic exterior is matched by an asymmetric interior, providing a focussed cockpit environment for the driver and a relaxing space for the occupants. High seating positions provide the sense of security normally found in an SUV, yet the Qashqai is also dynamic as a performer with the acceleration and handling abilities of a smaller hatchback.
Four engine options will be available, two petrol - 1.6 and 2.0 litre and two diesel – 1.5 and 2.0 litre.
In terms of fuel consumption, the 1.6 litre petrol engine delivers a very impressive combined figure of 6.7 litres per 100km (35.1mpg) which is a fuel economy figure comparable to that delivered by a standard medium sized hatchback. When it comes to the 1.5 diesel the fuel consumption figures get even better with the very impressive diesel engine delivering fuel economy and C02 emission levels comparable to a Micra.
From launch there will be two different specification grades available, SE & SVE. The entry-grade SE model is extremely well equipped and includes a host of impressive features including 16 inch alloy wheels, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, 6 Airbags, airconditioning, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, CD player, front and rear electric windows, Isofix, passenger airbag cut-off switch as well as front foglamps as standard. In addition to all this, integrated Bluetooth Handsfree kits are offered as a standard feature of the car across the range.
Customers opting for the SVE grade get a host of further additional extras added into the mix including 17 inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, dual zone climate control, cruise control, 6 disc CD changer and most impressively a full panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade which covers both rows of seats to create a light and airy interior.
Prices for the new Nissan Qashqai start at a very impressive €23,995* for the entry grade 1.6 petrol SE model and €26,695* for the 1.5 diesel SE. This superb new and unique car will be available in all Nissan dealer showrooms from February 10th.
