So how do you get YouTube listings in the Google search results???
Its just like normal SEO
- pick a search phrase using the Google keyword tool.
- assess the competition
- since YouTube is an authority domain, you don't have the same sandbox issues that you would have with a normal website page
- Entitle the YouTube listing with the chosen search phrase.
- include that search phrase in the first words of the description, including the http://www.domain.com that you are promoting. This creates a clickable link from the YouTube page. It is a nofollow, but at least its a link that people can click through on.
- the first few words of the description are included in the Google snippet, so make the first words of the description a good sales pitch for the video.
- then link to that youtube url just like you would link to any other url when you are getting inbound links.
- Like Care Hire New Zealand (YouTube), for the DriveNZ.co.nz Car Hire New Zealand client that I am promoting. The links have been enough to get the YouTube listing around 11th on Google.ie car hire new zealand - Google Search
- Just need a few more links, and it will be top ten for more search phrases.
- See how I have the two search phrases in the title - both New Zealand Car Rental, and Car Hire New Zealand. It ranks for both phrases.
- Just including the video onto pages is not enough to get the video ranked, it needs link text, just like everyday normal pages.
- We have done the same for Campervan hire New Zealand and got it ranking well on Google.
- Since YouTube is not "your" domain, you have to compete against every other video on YouTube that is SEO'ed for the same phrases. While Google sometimes does show more than one Video listing, generally if a competitor listing gets more incoming links, then their page will rank, and yours will disappear. Its a very cat eat dog ranking business to be in!
To actually get the link from this forum, you have to turn off the "Automatically embed media".
What success have you had with getting YouTube listings ranked on Google?
